Inform us of your course's recommended readings, such as books, journals, and videos, so your students can access these high-demand materials online or borrow from the Course Reserve section in the Library. The loan period for physical items is limited to allow more students to access the materials.
Partner us to help identify and curate resources tailored to your course’s requirements to list on Subject Guides. These guides serve as a navigation page to help students discover quality resources relevant to a course, a specific subject focus and tips to research and cite effectively for their assignments. The guides may be accessed from the Library website or within the course module on the learning management system.
Our Librarians help first-year students to develop the critical information and digital literacy skills through the Essential Research Skills micro-module and in-class workshops via two University modules – Digital Competency Essentials and Critical Thinking and Communicating. Topics on how to find, select and evaluate relevant and quality evidence to support a research claim or project were covered.
We work closely with the various Programmes to take a scaffolded approach to embed relevant information and digital literacy skills at each level of study. We believe this will help our students to grasp and apply the key concepts of information literacy in relation to their study. As part of the Micro-modules Sub-committee, the Library works with you to identify and curate relevant online learning content to support student learning. The Library also manages the central registry for staff to access and be aware of the micro-modules used and developed in SIT. This allows for ease of reuse by other faculty to incorporate them into their courses.
